Seminar: Brazil and Saudi Arabia: emerging trade opportunities in the METS and other sectors The event happened on the Wednesday 19th at the Hilton Brisbane Export Week is an annual program that recognises, promotes and assists with growing Queensland's export businesses and industries. As part of the Export Week program, Trade and Investment Queensland invites you to attend this briefing session. Brazil and Saudi Arabia, already major economies in their respective regions, are emerging as economic powerhouses of the future. Both countries are embarking on ambitious investment programs to develop the hard and soft infrastructure necessary to continue their strong economic growth and are gradually opening their trade markets to foreign businesses. This environment is creating lucrative opportunities for Queensland companies, especially within the promising Brazilian and Saudi mining sectors. Saudi Arabia’s mining sector is poised to become the ‘third pillar’ of the Saudi economy after oil and petrochemicals as radical new government laws and an injection of US$19 billion into new projects stokes international interest and growth in the Saudi mining industry. The value of Brazil’s mining sector is also set to reach more than US$90 billion by 2015; more than double its 2010 value of US$44 billion. This briefing session recognised the exciting opportunities this growth creates for Queensland mining equipment, technology and services. It also explored the rapidly-developing mining industries of Brazil and Saudi Arabia and how Trade and Investment Queensland can support your business in these promising, but sometimes complex, markets.
