The main tasks and activities of this new office will be:

The development of geological research for different types of minerals, such as coal, nickel, bauxite, iron ore, copper, and others;
Identify and prospect opportunities of the development of new Greenfield projects jointly with potential Australian partners;
Identify and prospect opportunities of mergers and acquisitions of existing Australian operations;
Follow up the Australian mining, logistics and energy industries, with respect to market aspects, technology trends, etc;
Relate with the different local Australian institutions, such as local producers, financial institutions, City, State and National Governments, communities, labor unions, etc.
Support to the commercial departments of CVRD’s several business units, and support to CVRD’s purchase and supply department;

CVRD intends to implement in its the potential new businesses/projects Australia all the expertise it has acquired during the 62 years of existence, with respect to:

Construction and operation of mining and energy production facilities, and logistics systems;
Mining, logistics and energy production technologies;
Management and international trading;
Human resources development;
Others.
